   Plywood is made by glueing together thin sheets of wood veneer. The thickness of an individual sheet is 0.2 – 3.2 mm. The sheets are composed so that the directions of the grain of the superimposed sheets are usually perpendicular to each other. In normal(birch and poplar) plywood board, there is usually an odd number of sheers (at least three), so the direction of grain of the surface sheets is always the same. In conifer plywood sheets, the number may also be even. In gluing, weather-resistant phenolic resin adhesive is normally used. In terms of colour, it is considerably darker than veneering wood.

In addition, plywood is a staple material for professional builders, architects, designers and DIYers alike. These versatile panels used for many different projects, from wall sheathing, roofing. and sub-flooring, to cabinetry and furniture.

Plywood Size Thickness 

       The usual length and width specifications are 1220 x 2440 mm. while the thickness specifications are generally 3, 5, 9, 12, 15, 18mm. 

What Is Plywood Used For?

      plywood is suitable for a variety of end uses. including flooring, single-layer flooring, wall and roof sheathing. sheathing ceiling/deck, structural insulated panels. marine applications, siding, webs of wood I-joists, concrete forming, pallets. industrial containers, mezzanine decks, and furniture.

       structural plywood or exterior plywood designed. for permanent use in building structures like beams, subfloors. bracing for walls or roofs. and in any other instance where strength and stability are vital. Structural plywood is often quite thick. made of softwood species and without an attractive finish. The majority of veneer core structural plywood is moisture-resistant.

       Exterior plywood is going to be strong, but most. it’s designed for water-resistance and weather exposure. Adhesives used in Exterior plywood withstand water. and harsh sunlight for longer without degradation. But, Exterior plywood that will exposed to the elements. engineered wood exterior plywood will still need a surface treatment (e.g. waterproof sealant) . as it designed to covered with siding, flooring, roofing, etc.

      Interior (decorative) plywood is usually chosen for its looks rather than its strength. You’ll find Interior plywood ideal for household home improvement projects like wall paneling, ceilings. and ceiling treatments (e.g. coffered ceilings) cabinets and furniture. Interior plywood should not used for structures nor should interior plywood used outdoors.

      If you’re looking for beautiful look. consider skipping softwoods and selecting an interior, hardwood product instead. Hardwood plywood is a budget-friendly way of getting a stunning real wood finish.
